Are Road Runners, Rabbits, and Most Rodents ADHD?

Have you ever had the opportunity to watch nature, perhaps walking in the forest, or perusing a piece of greenery out in the desert? If you watch all the little critters running around, they don't act like most humans, they act as if they all have ADHD, as they are completely fidgety. Perhaps for a varmint to survive out in the wild, it needs to be on constant alert for predators.

Most birds are quite fidgety, and I suppose if they weren't a cat would sneak up on them when they land, and have them for lunch, or deliver that dead bird to the doorstep of their owner. Rabbits are quite fidgety, and when they are evading predators they run in unpredictable patterns, this obviously helps keep them alive from Hawks, Owls, and other predatory birds. If you think about it most rodents are quite fidgety as well, and they are vulnerable to larger fast pray.

This is definitely a survival mechanism. Now then, what about humans? Some humans have fast muscle twitch, and therefore they look a little more jumpity in their mannerisms, it also seems that those with fast muscle twitch come from parts of the world where there are larger predatory animals around. Could this be an evolutionary genetic adaptation for survival? In our society, in the United States we have a number of people with ADHD, and we call this an abnormality. But is it really?

Maybe people with ADHD are more human than the rest. Maybe they have the stronger human genes for survival. And maybe the reason there are so many, especially in the United States is because of our melting pot here, where people from all over come here to mix, mingle, melt, and have offspring. If so many other animals that we see appear to have ADHD, and since it appears to be a survival trait, it must be a good thing.

Now then, one could say that man has conquered his environment, and no longer needs to be ADHD, because there is nothing to fear. Well, man does have something to fear, other humans in big mobs coming to kill them; foreign armies, terrorists, drug gangs, etc. human conflict therefore could produce a higher number of future ADHD people. Those who are not on alert will be killed most likely, and they will not have future offspring.

Perhaps, we should look at ADHD in a totally different light. Perhaps we should celebrate the ADHD gene. After all it is the diversity of thought and action, along with the desire to engage in various human endeavors, which makes us stronger, and more enlightened. Indeed I hope you will please consider all this and think on it.
